Program Overview:

The Employee Well-being and Mental Health Program is designed to help organizations create a supportive and healthy work environment by prioritizing the mental and physical well-being of their employees. Day 1: Introduction to Employee Well-being and Mental Health

Objectives:

  • Understand the concept of employee well-being.
  • Recognize the link between employee well-being and business performance.

Topics Covered:

  • What is Employee Well-being?: Physical, mental, emotional, and social well-being explained.
  • The Impact of Well-being on Work Performance: How employee well-being influences productivity, engagement, and retention.
  • Mental Health in the Workplace: Understanding mental health challenges like anxiety, depression, and stress, and their effects on employees.
  • The Importance of Work-life Balance: How balancing work and personal life contributes to overall well-being.
  • The Role of Employers: What responsibilities do organizations have in supporting employee well-being?

Activity:

  • Group Discussion: Share experiences or ideas on how work impacts well-being and mental health. Brainstorm potential challenges organizations face in addressing these issues.

Assignment:

  • Write a reflection on your current workplace culture and how it supports or hinders employee well-being.

Day 2: Mental Health Awareness and Recognizing Signs

Objectives:

  • Learn how to identify mental health challenges in employees.
  • Understand how to approach employees experiencing mental health issues.

  • Common Mental Health Issues: Understanding stress, burnout, anxiety, depression, and other mental health conditions in the workplace.

Day 3: Strategies to Promote Employee Well-being

Objectives:

  • Learn strategies to promote and maintain employee well-being within the workplace.
  • Develop wellness programs that can be incorporated into organizational culture.

  • Stress Management Techniques: Practical approaches to managing stress at work, including mindfulness, time management, and relaxation techniques.
  • Promoting Physical Health: Encouraging exercise, healthy eating, and sleep hygiene in the workplace.
  • Employee Assistance Programs (EAPs): How to develop and implement employee support services such as counseling, therapy, and wellness resources.

Day 4: Leadership and Organizational Role in Mental Health

Objectives:

  • Understand how leadership influences employee well-being.
  • Develop leadership strategies for promoting mental health within teams.

  • Leadership Styles and Well-being: How leadership behaviors and practices impact employee well-being.
  • Creating a Mentally Healthy Organizational Culture: Establishing policies and values that prioritize employee health and well-being.
  • Leading by Example: How leaders can model self-care and mental health awareness for their teams.
  • Mental Health Support Networks: The importance of creating internal support systems—peer support groups, mentoring, and leadership training.

Activity:

  • Leadership Simulation: Practice responding to a mental health crisis within the team. Participants will engage in role-playing exercises to act as leaders addressing mental health concerns.

Assignment:

Day 5: Implementing and Measuring Employee Well-being Programs

Objectives:

  • Learn how to implement well-being programs in the workplace.
  • Understand how to measure the success and impact of employee well-being initiatives.

  • Developing an Action Plan: Creating a step-by-step plan to implement well-being and mental health programs.
  • Metrics for Success: How to measure the effectiveness of well-being initiatives—employee engagement surveys, absenteeism rates, productivity, and retention.
  • Continuous Improvement: How to iterate and improve well-being programs based on feedback and outcomes.
  • Legal and Ethical Considerations: Understanding the legal requirements for mental health accommodations and employee privacy.
  • Sustaining Long-term Change: Best practices for ensuring the sustainability of well-being programs over time.

Activity:

  • Program Evaluation Exercise: Participants will design an evaluation tool to assess the effectiveness of a well-being program after one year of implementation.

Assignment:

  • Prepare a presentation summarizing the key well-being initiatives you plan to implement in your workplace and how you will measure their success.

Program Delivery:

Format: In-person or virtual (interactive sessions with group discussions, role-playing, hands-on activities, case studies, and expert-led presentations).
Duration: 5 full days (6-8 hours per day).
Target Audience: HR professionals, managers, team leaders, organizational development specialists, and anyone responsible for employee well-being and mental health in their organization.


Certification:

Upon successful completion of the program, participants will receive a Certificate in Employee Well-being and Mental Health, recognizing their ability to effectively manage and support employee health and wellness in the workplace.
